Terry Downes

Remedial Massage Therapist

Terry Downes has been a Remedial Massage therapist for over 12 years. His interest in the human body and how it works stems from his life as an athlete, where he played over 100 games of Softball for Australia and also in Local and State Championships over a period of 14 years.

Even when he stopped competing he knew he would always want to continue his involvement in sports. Terry became a specialist coach which took him to the Athens & Beijing Olympics. He has also been lucky enough to work with many professional Australian sporting teams, including the Brisbane Lions, Qld State of Origin team, The Wallabies and Australian Institute of Sports athletes – through to local representative and high school teams.

Terry knows it’s important to give the right diagnosis, and it’s imperative that a therapist be able to communicate properly with the sports medical teams to get athletes back to an optimal state as quickly as possible.

Terry has seen all aspects of rehabilitation. Coordinated it, administered it and received it.

He gets a real kick out of helping everyday people with general problems and common complaints – using the same philosophies that he has carried through his career – aiming to get people moving better, faster and for longer periods of time.

Terry’s experience is second to none, and working in multi-disciplinary clinics has left him confident in liaising with other health professionals to help when he can’t.
