Specialist Pain Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists 2022)

Available at: Bowen Hills

About Matt:

Matt completed his Physiotherapy degree at the University of Queensland in 1996 and developed an interest in chronic and complex pain conditions early in his career whilst working in both the public and private sectors. He completed a Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) at the University of Sydney in 2007.

To further his expertise in the physiotherapy management of persistent pain conditions, Matt undertook a two year training program with the Australian College of Physiotherapy. He successfully completed the final exams in November 2022 to be awarded the title of Specialist Pain Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian College of Physiotherapists in 2022). Matt is the sixth physiotherapist in Australia to complete the Specialist Pain Physiotherapist training program.

Matt carefully listens to understand each client’s story, performs a thorough clinical assessment and will explain what may be contributing to the pain condition. Pain is complex, and each presentation is unique, so an individualised plan is discussed.

Matt is strongly evidence based in his approach. In the scientific literature, conservative management strategies such as education and appropriate exercise and activity consistently recommended as first line treatment options. These options are often challenging, but are ultimately rewarding.

After graduating with honours from QUT, Brisbane in 2011, Jamie has spent his last eleven years spread across private practice, doctor’s clinics, rural health centres, and multidisciplinary clinics alongside physiotherapists, osteopaths and exercise physiologists.

These experiences have seen him develop a broad range of skills in diagnosing and treating all aspects of the foot and lower limb. Areas of interest include; foot and lower leg pain, sports injuries, paediatric assessments (children) and orthotic therapy. Further areas of expertise include diabetic foot assessments, as well as skin and nail complaints.

This passion has driven his interest in the field of biomechanics and sports podiatry, which has seen him in the past work alongside senior men’s soccer teams on the Gold Coast. It is his goal to see patients returning to the activities they love as soon as possible, as keeping the body moving is vital for overall physical and mental health.

Sports Nutritionists

Sally Anderson - Advanced Sports Dietician and Exercise Physiologist at QSMC

Advanced Sports Dietician and Exercise Physiologist, Level 1 Anthropometrist

Sally loves her work as a dietitian, and will go to great lengths to help her clients achieve their goals. Sally’s interest in sports nutrition began when she was competing nationally as a lightweight rower; as ‘weight-category’ athletes will testify, meticulous attention to food is necessary to achieve a goal weight. As a result, Sally has first-hand experience & empathy for the challenges that face her athletes & weight management clients.

Rowing was replaced with a love of triathlons (an easy transition given the high volume of cross-training required for rowing), and triathlon – along with the individual disciplines – have become her favoured sports ever since. To balance out the endurance tendencies though, you’ll also find her spending a good amount of time on a gym floor lifting heavy things.

Sally’s dietetic career began in research, completing an honours thesis on ‘Caffeine use in elite athletes’ in 2005. Following this, she tied her dietetics & exercise science degrees together with the Sports Nutrition Course at the Australian Institute of Sport, and then began consulting to various sporting & personal training groups around Brisbane, as well as working for some years at a weight management clinic.

Following this, she spent a year travelling overseas, which sparked an interest in eating for longevity & health. Since then, Sally has grown Apple To Zucchini to service more clients, while still retaining the individualised aspect of nutrition planning – no two meal plans will ever look the same from an Apple to Zucchini dietitian! Sally is currently aiming to perfect the life of a working Mum; her little man Sam, and youngest Abigail are never far from her mind.

Being a Personal Trainer over a decade now, Kirrily is not only passionate about health and fitness, but strives for being the best version of herself, inside and out. Looking for a more holistic approach with her clients, she decided a Nutrition and Dietetics degree would do the trick!

With a passion for sports and nutrition, Kirrily had a clear view through years of study that she wanted a career as a sports dietitian – and jumped at any opportunity to volunteer to learn what it was all about.
