Selwyn has had experience working with Crossfit, Mixed Martial Arts, AFL and Rugby Athletes and has a keen interest in strength and conditioning and exercise rehabilitation.
Selwyn is a certified Functional Movement Screen Practitioner. Developed in 1995 the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a 7-step screen that helps to assess movement patterns. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness. The screen has been used within professional sporting organisations, collegiate athletic programs and the military to help improve functional performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Once the FMS is completed you will receive a score out of 21 based on your movement competency, identifying possible muscle and joint asymmetries. This score helps to define the prescription of an individualised stability and mobility-based program.
