Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Toby Edmanson

Toby Edmanson is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP). He brings a sophisticated, data-driven approach to human performance and rehabilitation. His professional background is uniquely multidisciplinary, having served as a committee member for the Sports Medicine Australia (Queensland Council) and gaining elite-level exposure as a Training Assistant for the Brisbane Lions Football Club. Toby’s clinical practice is distinguished by his development of the Athlete Performance Assessment framework, a system that utilises VALD technology to translate complex metrics into actionable insights for athletes and coaching staff.

Toby focuses on musculoskeletal rehabilitation and athletic performance. In particular, lower limb injuries including ACL rehabilitation, patellofemoral pain, and hip and groin concerns as well as a large client base of water-based and overhead athletes. He is highly proficient in objective athlete profiling, using force and symmetry testing to identify potential injury risk factors and guide return-to-sport progressions. Beyond the athletic population, Toby is experienced in managing post-surgical recovery and chronic disease, applying evidence-based exercise prescription to help the active general population improve their movement capacity and strength.

His academic foundation is extensive, holding a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours) and a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition Major) from the University of Queensland. This dual expertise allowed him to gain valuable experience as a Dietitian in hospital settings, providing him with a holistic perspective on patient care and multidisciplinary health outcomes. Currently, Toby continues to contribute to the profession through his role with Sports Medicine Australia, where he helps coordinate professional development initiatives for clinicians across the state.
