Accredited Exercise Physiologist

Monique Taylor

Monique Taylor is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. She brings a wealth of experience in clinical rehabilitation and athletic performance to the QSMC team. Monique established a strong professional foundation in elite sporting environments and busy clinics as a practicum student. For instance, she served as a sports trainer for Gregory Terrace and Souths Rugby Union. Her background in high-pressure sports informs her clinical approach, helping her bridge the gap between acute injury and long-term performance.

In her clinical practice, Monique manages a diverse range of complex cases. She takes particular interest in neurological rehabilitation. Specifically, she manages Spinal Cord Injuries, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Stroke. She is also dedicated to Women’s Health. Specifically, she supports clients through menopause, perimenopause, and the management of bone health conditions such as osteoporosis and osteopenia. Monique regularly supports older adults in managing their physical function and mobility while living with conditions such as knee osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Monique holds a Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology and is an Accredited Sports Trainer. Beyond her primary clinical role, she contributes to the advancement of the profession through her involvement in research and professional development. She currently assists in facilitating the UQ FITTEST Study, a frailty and falls prevention study conducted by the University of Queensland. Additionally, Monique recently delivered professional development on the “minimum effective dose” for strength training and evidence-based exercise recommendations aimed at supporting long-term health. One of her proudest career milestones includes establishing a successful Healthy Ageing group class dedicated to improving the health and function of older populations. Monique uses an evidence based approach to improving outcomes, taking into consideration current research, clinical experience and patient goals and function.
