SPORTS AND EXERCISE PHYSIOTHERAPIST
David Bick
David began his studies in Melbourne where he completed a Diploma in Medical Radiography. Following an interest in Sports Medicine he then completed a degree in Physiotherapy through the University of Sydney. After completing a graduate diploma in Sports Physiotherapy he was titled a Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist through the Australian Physiotherapy Association. David was a founding partner at ‘Sydney Sports Medicine Centre’ in 1992 at Sydney Olympic Park. He worked there for 12 years, working with several Olympic sports during this period. During that time he worked and travelled domestically and internationally with a number of Australian teams in sports such as volleyball, gymnastics, hockey, softball and track and field.
David began working with NSW Rugby Union in the late 90s and in 2002 began work with the Waratahs NSW Rugby Union team. He was appointed as Physiotherapist to the Wallabies Australian Rugby Union team in Oct 2001 and worked with them until the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France. In 2000 David was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his services to sport.
He established a Tendinopathy clinic in 2005 with the North Sydney Sports Medicine Centre. In Dec 2009 he took up a position with Harry Kewell in Istanbul, Turkey, leading up to the 2010 World Cup. On return from Turkey, David relocated to Brisbane and joined the QSMC team. His wealth of experience is a true asset to the clinic.
David has worked with St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace in their rugby program providing Physiotherapy to their First XV since 2013. David continues to provide post graduate education to Physiotherapists through courses with the Australian Physiotherapy Association and workshops domestically and internationally in the management of lower limb tendon problems and running assessment for Physiotherapists, Podiatrists and Personal Trainers. David is working on the development and automation of risk assessment in the workplace with companies like BHP and OI glass and enjoys working with a myriad of complex and challenging problems in the clinic.
