Shane Lemcke

Shane Lemcke is a Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and a Director at QSMC, bringing over two decades of elite high-performance experience to the clinic. He has extensive experience in international sports. Specifically, he worked with the Australian Track and Field team at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. He also supported athletes at multiple World Championships and Commonwealth Games. During his 12-year tenure with the Brisbane Lions AFL club, Shane worked within the medical team as Physiotherapist and Medical Coordinator. Additionally, he gained elite experience as a Lead Physiotherapist in a variety of roles with the Queensland Academy of Sport, the Australian Institute of Sport and other national sporting bodies.  

In his clinical practice, Shane specialises in the management of complex musculoskeletal injuries, with a particular emphasis on lower limb rehabilitation. He has extensive experience managing muscle and tendon injuries, especially involving the groin, hamstrings and calves. Shane also has a strong clinical interest in tendon health, including conditions affecting the Achilles, patella and quadricep tendons. He is highly sought after by motivated patients who want to achieve their exercise goals, specifically treating a diverse range of individuals from recreational to elite athletes. Shane enjoys applying the rigorous diagnostic and rehabilitation standards of professional sport to help all clients strive for their peak physical function.

Beyond his technical expertise, Shane is a dedicated mentor within the profession and a Member of the Australian College of Physiotherapists. His clinical philosophy is rooted in working with motivated individuals and helps them work toward optimal physical outcomes using hands on treatment, exercise prescription, education and rehabilitation planning. Above all, he values patients who are committed to their recovery. Because of his extensive background working in elite sport, he brings a “pro-athlete” standard of care to every patient at QSMC.

  • High Performance: Lead Physiotherapist experience in many sports through the QAS and AIS. 

When Shane isn’t in the clinic, he enjoys staying active through running and regular gym sessions. Much of his free time is spent on the sidelines supporting his children’s sporting pursuits. He also enjoys walking the family dog. A passionate skier, Shane has a bucket-list ambition to experience heli-skiing. Outside of sport, he appreciates life’s simple indulgences; a great steak, French pastries, and a quality coffee or glass of wine. He often jokes that in another life, he may have swapped the treatment table for the vineyard to pursue a career as a winemaker.
